Liz Ogumbo is a Nairobi-born Cultural Architect, entrepreneur, and creator of intellectual property spanning music, fashion, wine, media, and circular innovation.

For more than two decades, she has built brands, platforms, and cultural experiences that connect African creativity with global audiences while creating opportunities for economic participation, storytelling, and sustainable development.

Rather than operating within a single discipline, Liz works at the intersection of culture, commerce, creativity, and impact—transforming ideas into scalable platforms, products, experiences, and ecosystems.

Today, her work focuses on developing intellectual property and cultural commerce systems that create long-term value for creatives, communities, institutions, and partners across Africa and beyond.

In 2010, Liz coined the term KenSoul™ to describe a sound rooted in her Kenyan identity and global influences. What began as a musical genre evolved into a broader creative philosophy that now underpins her work across multiple disciplines.

Fashion & Circular Innovation

Liz launched her fashion brand in 2007, creating collections inspired by African heritage, sustainability, self-expression, and contemporary design. This work later evolved into DeniMania™, a proprietary circular couture and cultural production platform that transforms discarded denim into fashion, music, storytelling, education, and economic opportunity through the patented 3R Methodology™.

Today, DeniMania™ functions as the circular innovation engine within Liz's broader ecosystem and continues to expand through collections, collaborations, training programs, and cultural activations.

Vine to Soul™

In 2018, Liz expanded into wine production through Liz Ogumbo Wines™, developing five premium wine varieties produced in South Africa and distributed across multiple markets. What began as a wine brand has since evolved into Vine to Soul™—a multi-sensory storytelling ecosystem that connects wine, memoir, music, education, and immersive experiences.

Through radio, podcasts, interviews, events, and industry conversations, the platform amplified African creative voices while contributing to discussions around entrepreneurship, innovation, and the future of the creative economy.

Today, Fashion Lab Africa is evolving into Fashion Lab Global™—an expanded platform focused on cultural commerce ecosystems, strategic partnerships, creative economy development, and global opportunities for African creators and enterprises.

Fashion Lab Global™ is currently under development and scheduled for phased rollout beginning with strategic activations connected to Village Planétaire 2026.

Ubuntu Project

Inspired by Liz Ogumbo's song Ubuntu, which celebrates the African philosophy of "I am because you are because we are," the Ubuntu Project empowers women artisans across Kenya and Eswatini through craftsmanship, skills development, and economic participation. The song later became part of the soundtrack of the television series Jacob's Cross, further extending its reach and reinforcing its message of shared humanity, community, and collective empowerment. Ubuntu has since evolved into both a guiding philosophy and the foundation for a women-led empowerment initiative.

A music-led advocacy initiative using creative expression to raise awareness around gender-based violence and inspire dialogue, prevention, and social change.
